A YOUNG Southern Highlander who is keen on making it into the PNG Hunters 30-man squad is focused on the final trials this weekend.
20-year-old Finley Glare said he is learning a lot of things in camp and is looking forward to using them during the game.
Glare said from the initial train-on squad, many have been eliminated through the process and he is determined to survive.
“The training is intense but okay,” he said.
“Before I joined the Digicel Cup, I played in the schoolboys’ league with the East Taraka Spiders, where I was scouted by the Lae Snax Tigers.
“My favorite position is hooker so, when I entered the Hunter’s camp, the coach put me into that position and later shifted me into the halves.”
Glare got his break when he was selected to play for junior Kumuls last year.
“It was my first time to play against an expatriate team,” the 20-year old Southern Highlander said.
“The game was fast and the level was high but I managed to get through it.”
Glare said he has learnt a lot of things while in the Hunters train-on squad and is looking forward to making it into Coach Paul Aiton’s final squad.
