THE Goilala District Development Authority (GDDA), has prioritized to improve road infrastructure networks in the district, going forward, 2023 and beyond.
This was announced by the chairman of the GDDA and MP Casmiro Aia at the recent DDA meeting held at the Kerau Catholic Mission station (ward 7), in the Tapinin LLG, on Tuesday.
The first term MP said this was the main infrastructure that the DDA has prioritized as a platform to attract other essential major government services into the remote district in Central province.
His said the DDA has passed its resolutions to connect Tapini to Kerau and Tapini to Guari road link.
He said the Tapini to Guari road link was under the radar of the Connect PNG policy approved by the national government through the initiative of the former MP for Goilala William Samb and former MP for Wau Bulolo, late, Sam Basil who was then, the Deputy Prime Minister, that both passed on prior the national elections this year.
The MP said the two late members of parliament shared a common friendship and understanding to link their two provinces by road (Morobe and Central), having to share common boarders on the Owen Stanley ranges that begin at the edges of the Garaina in Wau, Morobe and Guari in Goilala.
He said in terms of agriculture, the district has the potential to become the major food bowl distributor of Port Moresby with the abundance of garden produce supply in the district.
‘’We have high fertile land to grow anything and that is the potential we have in the agriculture space, therefore, we want to supplement our brothers and sisters from the highlands who have been supplying the city over time, and it is about time, Goilala can stand in.
He said the DDA is pleased to ride on the coffee rehabilitation projects in the area with the introducing of a separate allocation of ministry of coffee by the current government that enables Goilala to stand ready to as a major supplier with its rich organic coffee grown in the area.
He also added that the DDA will look into improving health and education services, churches and law and order programs in the district.
