Government Departments and Partners Convene to Improve Service Delivery

THE Consultative Implementation and Monitoring Council (CIMC) collaborated with government, private sector and the civil society in a meeting to discuss, provide recommendations and improve on public service delivery in the country in Port Moresby yesterday.

The governance and services delivery meeting was chaired by Mr. Henry Yamo one of the Directors from ICAC discussing key agendas such as, strengthening integrity systems, intergovernmental financing and decentralization reforms, citizen participation, budget transparency and accountability and strengthening social accountability and governance systems in PNG.

The governance and service delivery meeting gave a unique opportunity to its valued stakeholders and key partners in advancing national development to contribute to strategic discussions that directly influence governance reform, public sector performance and the delivery of essential services across PNG.

MR. Yamo said “This meeting is  providing the platform for  different agencies and organisations to come together and discuss the issues that are affecting governance and services delivery in the country.”

“This also gives us the opportunity to share some of the work we’re doing in each of our respective organizations, where it’s open to discussion to the participants so we can get in recommendations and comments on improving in service delivery from the national level all the way down to the local level,” said Mr. Yamo

 The Special Project Office of CIMC Mrs. Gretel Matawan added  ” This meeting also gives the opportunity to the different sectors to build a network and collaborate in areas where needed to drive accountability in Governance and Service Delivery.”

The key government agencies and partners  participated in the meeting includes, ICAC, the National Economic and Fiscal Commission (NEFC), the Department of Provincial & Local Level Government Affairs (DPLGA), the PNG Open Government Partnership (OGP), the Building Community Engagement in PNG Program (BCEP), and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

The second quarterly meeting was announced to commence on Tuesday 9th of June 2026 to review and assess the progress of the this meeting while introducing new agendas to be discussed
