Headline: Gaire Hiri Hanenamo Queen contestant to showcase tomorrow in her village

GAIRE village in Central province will sway to the beat of the kundu and the corn shell sounds, when it’s local contestant, Tabitha Ulatoe Rei, sways her grass skirt in a true motuan culture style tomorrow (Saturday).

It will be a moment of truth for the the 22-year-old lass from Gaire village in Hiri Koiari district.
She will tell her people why she had to raise her hand to become a contestant in the 50th Hiri Moale Festival slated for this month, this year.

Guests such as local MP Keith Iduhu, Governor of Central Rufina Peter and other delegates will see another making of an extravaganza cultural display by the local ontestant from Gaire.

“Tomorrow’s event at home turf Gaire will be the launching of the swaying which I will sway Infront of the Tavatava cultural group,” she said in an interview.
“I will be speaking to my village people why I am contesting and appreciate them for their support and contribution in the Hiri Moale Festival which is a culture we are inherited from generations.
“Basically I will do an introduction of myself, a history about my family back ground and give a brief story about my education and the reasons of me contesting.

“I raised my hands to contest in this Hiri Hanenamo quest to promote and preserve or traditional identity and it’s importance to everyone who will be witnessing us on the platform on March 21-26 at the Sir Hubert Murray Stadium in Konedobu.

“The most important area thing is to make positive impact in my society to all other others sisters who willing to achieve greater things in life.”
Rei will be amongst 10 contestants from each Motu Koitabu villages who will be showcasing at the 50th Hiri Moale Festival next month in March.
