Laiagam District Hospital, Kepelam Catholic Health Center and Yango Health center all received a new Toyota Land Cruiser each from the Lagaip District Development Authority (LDDA) yesterday.
The presentation of the vehicles was made today at Sangurap Catholic Church ground by Lagaip District Administrator Tom Lindapi and Londari Lasala who is the Executive Officer to Lagaip MP Aimos Akem.
During the presentation, Lasala explained that the presentation of vehicles to the hospital and two health centers, was a sign of LDDA following the process and procedures of Provincial Health Authority (PHA).
“Since PHA is already an established institution, LDDA had to use the established system by presenting these vehicles through Enga Provincial Health Authority (EPHA) to work in partnership,”Lasala said.
EPHA Board Chairman Kenneth Andrew thanked MP Akem and the people of Lagaip for following the due process.
This gives the administrators and facilitators on the ground confidence in delivering the much-needed health services to the people of the new Lagaip District.
Lagaip MP Akem sent a stern warning saying, he doesn’t want his supporters or anyone for that matter to misuse the vehicles. He said the vehicles will be stationed at their designated locations and that is at Kepelam Catholic Health Center premises, Yango Health Center premises and Laiagam Hospital car park.
Akem said that the welfare of the drivers and the vehicles will be taken care by Catholic Health Authority and EPHA as the vehicles were presented through them.
Meanwhile, the maiden MP of the district said he doesn’t like grandstand presentations, pig killings and ribbon cutting as it is a waste of time because these services vehicles are purchased by people’s money. Akem also presented a new 5th element Toyota Hilux double cab to Wanepop St Mary High School.
He assured his people that he has plans for purchasing more sector vehicles, erecting of new classrooms and making new road projects.
“All we have to do is to take care of ourselves, our projects and always promote peace in the communities,” Akem said,
