THE National Capital District Provincial Health Authority (NCDPHA) has commemorated the first anniversary of the Dental Clinic at Metoreia Urban Health Centre (MUHC).

The event marked a year of dedicated oral health service delivery to the residents of Port Moresby earlier this week.

Held at the Outpatients Triage Sitting Area, the milestone event brought together health executives, development partners, community representatives, and frontline staff to reflect on the clinic’s achievements and reaffirm NCDPHA’s commitment to accessible, quality dental care.

Speaking on behalf of NCDPHA Management, Acting Clinic Manager HEO Regina Wuri acknowledged the tireless efforts of the dental team and support staff:
“This celebration is not just about marking time—it’s about honouring the people behind the progress. Our dental team has shown resilience, compassion, and professionalism in delivering care that truly makes a difference.”

The event featured remarks from key stakeholders including the Emergency Services Improvement Program (ESIP), Motu-Koita Assembly, and the Hospital Executive. A highlight of the program was the performance report presented by Head of Dental Services, Dr. Ila, showcasing service statistics, patient outreach, and operational improvements over the past year.

Dr. Robin Oge, Chief Executive Officer of NCDPHA , commended the clinic’s impact and reaffirmed the Authority’s strategic vision:
“The Metoreia Dental Clinic stands as a testament to what we can achieve when we invest in people, infrastructure, and partnerships. Oral health is integral to overall wellbeing, and we will continue to strengthen services that empower communities and restore dignity through care.”

The ceremony concluded with staff recognition, a celebratory item by the dental team, and a cake-cutting ceremony symbolizing unity and progress. Light refreshments followed, fostering camaraderie among attendees.

NCDPHA extends its gratitude to all partners, staff, and community members who have contributed to the success of the Metoreia Dental Clinic. As we look ahead, we remain committed to expanding access, improving outcomes, and building a healthier Papua New Guinea.
