MONIER Limited made a generous donation of building materials to support the construction of a much-needed toilet facility at the Just in Time Literacy School at Sabama, Joyce Bay.
The donation is part of a collaborative effort spearheaded by long-time WeCARe Foundation supporter, Mr. Mick Brosnan of Australia.
Monier Limited’s contribution included four pallets of building blocks, 20 tonnes of diorite, and six bags of cement.
The donation was officially handed over on Monday, 14th of April, in the presence of the WeCARe Foundation’s Program Manager Ms. Cecilia Maiasa, Finance and Admin Officer (Project Coordinator) Mr. Walter Kamahe, Just in Time Literacy School founder Mr. Nathan Andes, and Monier Limited representative Mr. Sakias Nalahawa and his team.
This initiative is being coordinated under the WeCARe Foundation’s Early Childhood Development (ECD) Program, which supports early learning centres in the National Capital District and PNG through infrastructure support, teacher training, and provision of essential learning resources.
The Just in Time Literacy School is one of the newest ECD centres identified by the Foundation.
The toilet project currently underway is the second of its kind being carried out by the WeCARe Foundation and its Australian volunteer partners, with the first successfully completed at the Glynn Orphan Early Childhood Centre in Wildlife, Morata 2.
The current project is fully sponsored by Mr. Mick Brosnan, who, along with a team of skilled tradesmen from Australia, has been working closely with the Foundation’s local team led by Mr. Kamahe.
Their partnership highlights the power of local and international collaboration in addressing urgent community infrastructure needs, particularly in underserved areas.
“We sincerely thank Monier Limited and their General Manager, Mr. Mathew McLachLan, for recognizing our call and responding with this vital donation,” said Mr. Kamahe.
“This support will go a long way in ensuring a safe and hygienic learning environment for the children at Just in Time Literacy School.”
The WeCARe Foundation, a Port Moresby-based NGO, continues to champion the needs of women and children at risk through its targeted programs and community-driven projects across urban and rural communities.
