THE nationwide polio immunisation campaign was launched today at the New Erima Primary School in the National Capital District by Health Minister Elias Kapavore.

The program to immunise children under 10 years old will end on 26 August 2025.

Mr Kapavore appealed to all parents and citizens to cooperate with NCD and other provincial health workers to immunise their children.

“When health workers come to your province or community to immunise your children, all parents should take the responsibility to bring your child,” he said.

“Community leaders, it is also your responsibility to disseminate the information for people to know.

“I appeal for your cooperation and united efforts by everyone of the citizens so that we will declare a polio-free nation,” Minister Kapavore said.

NCD Provincial Health Authority chief executive Dr Robin Oge urged all parents to bring their children to be immunised.

“Pass the word around to bring your babies when you see health workers coming. We need to protect our children from polio.

“We have a lot of challenges in resources, road conditions, and others, but we believe that we will deliver immunisation across the country.

“With the support of community leaders, youths, teachers, and students, we  can overcome those challenges and vaccinate 95 per cent of our children,” Dr Roge said.
