Rotary Australia has made a significant contribution by donating 40-foot containers filled with life-saving medical equipment to Gerehu Hospital managed by the NCD Provincial Health Authority.

The generous support was coordinated locally by Rotarian Dickson Ken and Rotarian Peter Pelepa from the Rotary club of Brisbane in collaboration with the Rotary club of Boroko.

The medical equipment was presented to NCD PHA Chief Executive Officer Dr Robin Oge and his staff at Gerehu Hospital today.

Mr Ken has helped deliver 20 containers of educational and medical resources around Papua New Guinea through a Rotary partnership.

“For me, this is more than a project, it’s a purpose and passion,” Mr Ken said. “As a village kid who grew up experiencing the challenge of limited access to education and health services, I feel a deep responsibility to give back to those who need it the most.

“A healthy workforce is the backbone of a thriving nation, and Rotary is proud to help strengthen it.

“This container carries more than equipment, it carries hope, compassion and the enduring spirit of service that defines Rotary.’

Mr Ken expressed his gratitude to the  Rotary Australia Repurposing Equipment, the Rotary Clubs of Brisbane and Boroko, Swire Shipping, Supreme Industries, and all partners and donors who made the delivery possible.

Dr Oge acknowledged the support given by Rotary Australia.

“This support is timely because we need new beds and some new equipment at the emergency ward,” He said.
