Hunters preparing for next game

By Gabriel Katuho

The PNG SP Hunters are taking a three-day break while conducting their own training sessions in preparation for the upcoming games.
Coach Paul Aiton, speaking to the media, emphasised the importance of rest for the players while also focusing on analysing videos from their last game and addressing minor details.

Aiton mentioned that players who didn’t make it to the Hunters’ 30-men squad, as well as those who have yet to meet the required standard, have been placed in the Warriors squad and have undergone trials with Digicel Cup teams.

“It’s been beneficial for both the Digicel Cup teams and us to have these trials. They need the trials, and we do too,” he stated.

“We have the Hunters Squad and the Warriors Squad. The Warriors played against Gulf Isou at the National Football Stadium last week, and we emerged victorious. This week, we’re facing Hela Wigman again on Sunday,” he added.

Looking ahead to their round 4 match against the Tweed Seagulls in the Queensland Rugby League Hostplus next week in Australia, Aiton expressed anticipation for the game with the team.

He said that while they’re not overly concerned about the opposition, they are focusing on rectifying weaknesses from the previous week’s game.

“We’re concentrating on fixing our mistakes from last week. We don’t underestimate our opponents, but our primary focus is internal. We’re analysing videos, pinpointing key areas for improvement. If we can address our errors and minimize penalties, we’ll be a tough team to beat,” he explained.
