WHILE waiting for the proposed Central provincial hospital at Bautama to get off the ground, the Kwikila Interim Provincial Hospital in Rigo was given a green to commence its operations as of this week Tuesday.
Doctors have taken up residences at the interim hospital site on the same day to signify the official commencement of the interim hospital’s operations.
The occasion had also marked a significant milestone for the province to have Doctors for the first time.
“This is a significant milestone for Central Provincial Health Authority (CPHA) and the people of Central province. Since the inception of CPHA in 2019, we finally have doctors for the first time,’’ Dr Amini said.
Dr Amini said, this move will ensure service delivery mechanism in the province is empowered, hence medical services can be provided at this level for the first time in the province.
He further explained that the move was strategically done to counter the burden of disease along the eastern part of the province and will also assist in the provincial indicator performance.
The CEO said CPHA had by this date spent over K5million in the development of the interim provincial hospital with hospital wards, doctors’ houses and fencing.
“As we get doctors, services like XRAY, Pathologies and others will increase.”
Meanwhile, Dr Amini said the work on the proposed Central Provincial Hospital will commence next year with documentation in place.
The actual cost of the proposed hospital will depend on the master plan and design however, Dr Amini said the CPHA had received K15million already for the documentation part of it last year.
