The International Training Institute (ITI) in Port Moresby has signed a 3years Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Digitec ICT Limited for its students to do internship training and for the organizations to collaborate in other areas.
Chairman and co-founder of ITI Senthil Kumaran Sentheyval said: “We have a lot of areas of collaboration with Digitec ICT Limited and we can look into those later, however, for a start we are partnering with it to have our students go for On the job training with the organization and if possible get a job there as well.
“We have been working with them since they started, and given our good relationship and an established MOU, I think there is a lot of mutual benefits we can get out of each other in the future.
“We don’t work in isolation and so I think this MOU signing is also part of giving our students some opportunities whenever they have some vacancies for on the job training then they can let us know and engage our students and we can all work together.”
Chief Executive Officer of Digitec, Satyen Singh, commended ITI for its contribution to the education in Papua New Guinea for the past 27 years.
“This partnership is signed with an objective to get the students in ITI who are studying in different fields to be work ready, career ready and help them achieve what they really want to achieve after completing their education in the institution.
“There are students who want to start up something on their own especially businesses while there are also some students with innovative ideas and we want to work with those students and their ideas to make them into reality.
“We will work with the ITI to see how we can help the students across the institution with AI now that you’re running AI summits and courses. Hence, from time to time we will be looking at computers and how do we digitize the business processes, the people and the places, and how do we get more value out of it.”
