MINISTER for Civil Aviation, Hon. Wake Goi today announced the reappointment of Dominic Kaumu as Acting Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer for the National Airport Corporation Limited (NACL), for a period of three months.
Kaumu’s reappointment to the position now revoked Minister Goi’s earlier decision of appointing Mr. Rex Kiponge.
Minister Goi in a media conference today explained that his decision is based on identifying the need to seek further deliberations from within the government, the NAC and the Board which he believed is paramount for his office to ensure leadership is maintained in the operations of NAC.
“I have exhausted thorough consideration of various factors, and I have made the decision to firstly revoke all documents that were in progress. And I have made a fresh appointment,” said the Minister.
When Hon. Goi was appointed to the Civil Aviation Ministry, his first task was to check the leadership status of every agency under the civil aviation ministry, to ensure that they provide continuous leadership at the operational and the board level.
Whilst carrying out the process, he noted Mr. Dominic Kaumu tenure was closer on the 6th of April 2025.
Minister Goi elaborated further that he needed enough time to get acquainted with the ministry including the NAC staff, management and the board and then be able to proceed with making such an important appointment.
He clarified that he has officially terminated the previous appointment and the position will be advertised to facilitate permanent appointment through the normal process of appointing public servants.
“I thank Mr. Rex Kiponge for being very professional and astute in accepting my decision,” said Minister Goi.
The Minister expressed his apologies for causing inconvenience and confusion that has been transmitted through the social media and the mainstream media.
Minister Goi said he aims to work in the best interest to allow for stable leadership and continuous operations in the operational functions of the NAC.
“We request all media platforms and the general public to refrain from speculating any previous reports or documents or information pertaining to the Mr. Rex Kiponge,” urged Minister Goi.
