THE Pacific Industries Limited through its product ‘KIK energy drink’ have come forward as the major sponsor for the Corporate Touch Port Moresby (CTPM) with the announcement of K50,000 yesterday in Port Moresby.
The CTPM this year have 15 affiliates registered with 42 teams raging from the juniors, under 16s, womens open, mens open, seniors and masters.
According to the organizing committee, thousands of athletes are expected to gather at Murray Barracks on Sunday to play with four fields to cater for the teams.
CTPM Secretary Miss Grace Kouba gave the brief history of CTPM while highlighting the competition.
“The CTPM was established in 1996 and over the past years we believe strong athletes have represented Team PNG. This
year season 2026 is a peak season for us. We have a lot of development path ways that are in progress, with over 15 affiliates and a lot of new interest coming in,” she said.
Kouba added that this season, CTPM is looking at building infrastructures, implementing coaching and training programs for the referees, teams and technical administration to upskill the association to further the growth at the grassroots level.
Interim President of CTPM, Mr. David Melua thanked ‘KIK ’ for sponsoring season 2026 stating that this was the beginning of change, growth, opportunity and a greater achievement for CTPM.
“I’m so excited to see the growth going, because now we have the partnership together, we will be looking forward to build the grassroots sports through the tournament,” he said.
He also acknowledged other sponsors who have come onboard in support they look forward to work in solidarity for a successful season
“An investment in the CTPM is the investment in the future of sports as you can see, it is the wellbeing of our athletes, the value of our team work and the excellence that we uphold in our association,” he stated.
Brand Manager of Pepsi Miss Denise Girey expressed Pepsi’s commitment in investing in upbringing of PNG athletes through sports with the sponsorship that aligns with its goals.
“On behalf of the Pepsi and KIK energy drink brand, we are
very excited to come on board to support Corporate Tough Port Moresby’s annual touch football in PNG.
We believe strongly in sport and community initiatives which brings people together and creates opportunities for PNG athletes going forward.
Touch football is the sport that has a lot of energy and determination and it really reflects our KIK energy brand. So today we would like to present this contribution of k50, 000 to CTPM,” she said.
