THE newly appointed Chairman of Public Accounts Committee (PAC), Hon. Freddie Kumai, has thanked the government for the opportunity to lead the committee in ensuring accountability and transparency in government expenditures.
He acknowledged the importance of the role of PAC in holding importance officials to account and vowed to carry out his duties diligently.
West New Britain (WNB) Governor, Hon. Sasindran Muthuvel praised Hon. Kumai’s dedication to serving the people and his track record as a member of the Talasea Open electorate.
He expressed confidence in Hon. Kumai’s ability to lead the committee effectively and uphold the principles of good governance.
Muthuvel thanked the parliament, leaders and the Prime Minister Hon James Marape on behalf of the people of WNB for recognizing the talent in the member of the Talasea Open to be the newly Chairman of PAC which is one of the most vital in the institution within the parliamentary committee.
“I’m sure our member is more than qualified and talented to address the pressing issues, the country is facing and also the cost which is one of the most challenging tasks which is undertaking about reviewing and checking of how funds have been so far utilized,” Muthuvel said.
The appointment of Kumai as the new Chairman of PAC comes at a time as the government works to rebuild the economy and restore public trust. His leadership will be crucial in ensuring that taxpayer money is spent wisely and that government programs are implemented efficiently.
“Depends on whatever the circumstance or situation, we are committed to serving the current government for better future,” Kumai added.
