THE biological father and other family members of late Jessica Yori have condemned the killing of their daughter and called for a justice to prevail.
Last Saturday between 10-11am at Boroko bus stop area in Port Moresby, Jessica, a 18-year-old from Salt Nomane Karamui district in Simbu Province, was stabbed by thugs when she was on her way to get on a connection bus to 6-mile where she resides.
Young Jessica was stabbed with a knife when she refused to hand over her phone and bag to the thugs, who demanded her to hand over the items.
Few hours later after the stabbing, Jessica was rushed to Port Moresby General Emergency Hospital but died on arrival due to loss of blood.
In a media conference yesterday, Jessica’s father Mr Enoch Yori was speechless when he tries to address the media on how his first-born daughter was murdered on a broad daylight within the heart of National Capital District.
In his brief words, Mr Yori emphasized the importance of future safety of young girls in the city and wants those responsible for his daughter’s death be identified, and face full force of the law.
Embracing peace over the death of his lovely daughter, late Jessica’s father said retaliation is a thing of past and he do not want to retaliate.
He said this in pidgin: “Me bai no nap toktok planti, me no stap long gudpela position long toktok, me less long retaliate, mipla stap sore na seekim justice long kamap tasol.”
“We the immediate family members will continue this fight in honour of our beautiful daughter until we find justice for her and make this city safe for our women and girls,” Mr Yori expressed.
Late Jessica was doing grade ten at Doliba Provincial High School, Simbu Province, however, she left school and flew into Port Moresby three months ago when she died from the hands of thugs.
