The Wapenamanda District Development Authority (WDDA) has passed a resolution to support the work of ward councillors throughout the district.
WDDA Chairman Hon.Miki Kaoek in his first meeting with all the ward councillors confirmed the allocation of K10,000 each as Community Development Grants to the 36 ward councillors of the Wapenamanda LLG and the 17 ward councillors of the Tsak LLG.
Present during the meeting were Wapenamanda LLG President Hon.Misech Semai and Tsak LLG President Hon.Thomas Lawai who sincerely acknowledged the decision made by the local MP to recognize the work of ward councillors throughout the district.
Kaeok, who is also the Vice Minister for Works and Highways, committed a total of K250,000 from the Distict Support Grants (DSG) to the two LLGs to assist in its administration and operations.
Tsak LLG President Thomas Lawai acknowledged the allocation of K125,000 to his LLG saying it will help in a long way going foward.
Wapenamanda LLG President Misech Semai highlighted the importance of community development and partnership as the way foward and sincerely acknowledged the recognition given by the local MP in allocating K125,000 to his constituency.
Vice Minister Kaeok emphasized on the need of community partnership and called on all the ward councillors to work with the people on the ground.
Kaeok sincerely acknowledged the work of the ward councillors saying their input on a regular basis has kept the communities in order from time to time going foward.
He assured the councillors of continuous support and urged them not to play politics as he is their mandated leader.
Kaeok mentioned that the K10,000 Community Development Funding will be received by all ward councillors irregardless of their political allegiance as he is now the mandated leader for all and won’t discriminate between his political supporters.
He also allocated K5,000 each to the four (4) women’s representatives with two each from the two LLGs.
