POLICE in Manus have reported two break enter and stealing incidents at Papindo Trading and Manus Training Centre recently with suspects making off with goods and items worth more than K9, 000.
The incident at Papindo trading occurred on May 24 that saw suspects cut open the freezer container and stole cartoons of frozen chicken wings, pork jowls and lamb hearts worth K8,721.90.
Provincial Police Commander Chief Inspector David Yapu said the suspects stole the goods and walked away. Security guards were alerted and chased the suspects that dropped off some goods that was later retrieved by security guards.
PPC Yapu said some of the suspects were identified at the scene and are known to Police and will be arrested soon.
The break and enter incident at Manus Training centre on May 28 saw some unknown suspects break into the Tourism and Hospitality office and stole items such as dinner set, water cooler, rice cookers, pots , and water urn worth about K1,366. 60
PPC Yapu is appealing to the community to assist Police and provide any information on suspects involved in the incident.
He said Manus Training Centre is a learning institution and people should respect the properties of the school.
In a separate incident, a fight occurred between the youths from a village at Papitalai and Papitalai secondary school on Saturday night, May 29 which resulted in a teacher and a student injured.
PPC Yapu said police attended to the school and managed to contain the situation from escalating. The youths from the nearby village ran away while the students were directed to return to their dormitories.
The injured teacher and student were transported to Lorengau General Hospital for medical treatment whilst one student was held in Police custody.
PPC Yapu said Police were requested by the School Administration to provide Police Presence during the day with sporting activities taking place and ended peacefully.
The ward councillor and President of Los Negros who was from the area was advised by Police to bring the suspects to the Police and the nearby villages to respect the school.
