Matainaho encourage summit participants to engage actively

SECRETARY for Department of Information and Communication Technology (ICT), Steven Matainaho, has encouraged the participants of the 2024 ICT Digital Transformation Summit to actively engage in discussions throughout the summit sessions.

Matainaho made this call today at the official opening of the three-day summit at Stanley Hotel in Port Moresby.

He encouraged all the participants to create meaningful discussions as they all collate with other individuals, experts and officers throughout the summit.

“I’m quite excited about where we are, not just from the department of ICT but in this digit transformation journey that was initiated about five years ago,” Mr Matainaho said.

He further spoke on the objectives, highlighting some of the goals they have on board to achieve as part of bringing development and progress.

“We would like to see a growth and increased knowledge to inform our academic curricular, showcasing emerging technology and ultimately lay foundation for a more robust digital ecosystem in PNG,” said Secretary Matainaho.

“Today, I encourage each of you to engage actively to learn, share and collaborate because the insights gained here should continue to shape our direction.”

The Secretary is looking at academia coming on board to partnering with industries and government stakeholders which will result in establishing a strong platform to drive meaningful dialogue and share insights and learn from each other.

They aim to see these organisations work in collaboration with the Digital Transformation Officers to bring more impacts to the country.

With more emphasis to empowering the country in the Digital Transformation, Secretary Matainaho revealed there are sessions planned to take place in the coming days.

He said these sessions are focused on motivating and giving drive to participants as they involve in the summit.

Matainaho added that the summit is vital for the progress of the state and the country as it allows the meeting of different minds.

He said at the same time, it is beginning of many changes to come, and they are confident that this will continue into the future.
