The Mendi-Munihu District Development Authority (DDA) under the leadership of
Hon. Raphael Tonpi, who is the Vice Minister for State Owned Enterprises is
prioritizing education in its five-year development plan to elevate schools in the
district reach new heights in terms of standards based on delivering quality
education and improved infrastructure.
As part of the district development plans to enhance the education sector in the
district, local member of Parliament and Vice State Owned Enterprises Minister Hon.
Raphael Tonpi commissioned a brand-new staff houses for the Bela TVET at a cost
of K250, 000 and a double building classroom.
He also pledged an additional K500, 000 to build another staff house and
classrooms.
He also announced a Water Supply Project for the Bela Community in the Bush
Karinz Local Level Government. Work on feasibility studies will start soon and then
the project will be commence beginning of next year, 2025.
Besides, he also funded another K100, 000.00 for the new Bela Primary School
which he established last year, 2023.
Mr Tonpi being a former head teacher himself is more focused on uplifting the
education standards in his electorate. By doing so the district is heavily invested in
building classrooms and teachers houses and improving infrastructure of these
schools.
He also announced few new Junior High School’s in Karinz LLG including Posulim
Junior High School which a funding of K500, 000.00 will be given to build few staff
houses and classrooms. Topa Junior High School will be receiving another K500,
000.00 funding from the district.
Mr Tonpi stated that Heyep Junior High School will also benefit from a K500,000
commitment from the DDA, further demonstrating the government’s emphasis on
improving educational facilities across the district.
Mr Tonpi make announcements of other six (6) new Primary School’s he has
registered and confirmed from the National Education Department.
In addition, the Mendi Munihu PM, announced three new Ambulances for Karinz LLG
that includes: Topa Health Centre, Pingrip Health Centre and Wass Health Centre.
He promised to buy two more ambulances for Kip health Centre and Munihu Health
Center.
He also announced few other impacted projects like Map-Imila-Heyep road which will
commence next year, 2025.
