MINISTER for International Trade and Investment and Member for Yangoru-Saussia, Hon. Richard Maru has formally referred land fraudsters in his district to police for investigation’s and arrest.
In a statement today, Maru said the land fraudsters were involved in the acquisition of land described as Section 13, Allotment 23, at Yangoru District Headquarters.
“The land is owned by the State and is not vacant or an unimproved land,” he said.
“So many houses built on the land where all our nurses and other medical workers have been living in for over 40 years.
“This is not a vacant State land that is unused and available for tender or reallocation.
“This is also the land that will house our new planned District Hospital housing area,” Maru said.
He also highlighted that the land was fraudulently transferred and those involved will be investigated and arrested.
“I have been advised that the land has been fraudulently transferred to Momase Tavern Limited with the fraudulent State lease stating the purpose of the land as Business (Light Industrial).
“We will ensure that those behind this fraud from the Lands Department and the owners of Momase Tavern Limited are investigated and arrested as soon as possible for this major fraud of Government land.”
Maru said this land has been reserved for use by our Health Division in Yangoru District Headquarters.
