FOREIGN Affairs Minister Hon. Justin Tkatchenko MP has congratulated Mr Marco Rubio on his appointment as Secretary to the State of the United States.
Minister Tkatchenko in a statement released, said Papua New Guinea and the United States share longstanding history of friendship and cordial partnership that traces its history to the battlegrounds of World War II.
He added that in the recent times, the bilateral relations of both countries continued to develop and positivity elevated through the singing of the Defence Cooperation Agreement in 2023 and Ship Rider in 2024 as well as the continuing presence of Exxon-Mobil in the Oil and Gas industry.
“This has been a pride of our government that we have achieved something of high regard with the United States that is built on the foundation of peace, security, prosperity and for the common good of humanity.”
“I am confident that our relations will continue to grow to greater heights in the years ahead and request at your earliest convenience to come together so to continue our friendship and partnerships going towards for the benefit of both our countries and the region.”
