INTER-GOVERNMENT Relations Minister Pila Niningi has confirmed that his office was in the process of formalizing the establishment of new local level government wards for the Nipa-Kutubu electorate however due processes had to be followed.
Minister Niningi in response to the Member for Nipa-Kutubu Jeffery Komal who raised concerns in Parliament on Friday on the formation of new wards in his electorate said the process were still underway and his department was working on it and so has not gone past the National Executive Council (NEC) yet.
“Firstly, processes must be followed hence if the process is completed and requires NEC than I will take it to NEC to make a decision.”
However an unsatisfied Mr. Komal said: “The newly created wards have not gone through the proper procedure which has not been tabled in the Nipa LLG meeting as well plus the LLG president is not aware of this matter and so how do you want this to get past NEC.”
Mr. Niningi in his response to Mr. Komal’s concern reiterated that the matter has not gone to NEC as yet as procedures had to be followed.
“I will not allow if the process was not followed so it will not go through. But if the process is right and has been followed then I got an obligation and it is within my jurisdiction to bring to NEC who is an ultimate body to make the decision.”
Mr. Niningi urged the Nipa-Kutubu MP to wait for the outcome of the process.
