THE leadership tribunal against the suspended MP for Telefomin and Minister for Defence Solan Mirisim has been adjourned to Tuesday 9:30 am this week.
This follows the unavailability of the Public Prosecutor Pondoros Kaluwin who is sick at the moment.
Counsel representing the Public Prosecutor told the tribunal that Mr Kaluwin is down with flu and is seeking medical attention therefore couldn’t attend the tribunal today.
Chairman of the Tribunal Justice Les Gavara- Nanu advised the Counsel that this would be the last and final adjournment.
Justice Gavara- Nanu said it is the third adjournment and he won’t allow for another adjournment.
“The tribunal has been adjourned for three times now and given the urgency of the matter and also two of the tribunal members are also party to another tribunal, I want the investigation to be completed quickly and a decision handed down at the earliest,” he said.
Counsel representing the suspended MP, Greg Shepard of the Young and William Lawyers did not object on the adjournment, however said their client is prepared to plead before tribunal.
Shepard said he wished the Public Prosecutor quick recovery and agreed to the date set by the tribunal for the next hearing.
Justice Gavara-Nanu said there will be no more adjournment on Tuesday when the tribunal commences again.
He said once the MP plead they will proceed to the hearing.
“We will be calling up on witnesses from both parties when need be to verify the evidence and to help with the investigation.
“Time is of essence and we will not continue to adjourn this matter.
“We have to deal with it and a decision needs to be handed down soon,” Justice Gavara-Nanu said.
