Paita, Loifa sworn-in as state ministers

MEMBER for Finschhafen and OUR Pati Leader, Hon. Rainbo Paita and Member for Menyamya, Hon. Solan Loifa, have been sworn-in as Ministers in Marape-Rosso Government.

Both were sworn-in by Governor General Sir Bob Dadae at the Government House this afternoon.

Paita was sworn-in as Minister Assisting the Prime Minister while OUR Pati Member Solan Loifa was sworn-in as Vice Assisting the Prime Minister.

The swearing-in of both Ministers demonstrated OUR Pati strong support to Marape-Rosso Government with 14 Members.

Prime Minister James Marape acknowledged OUR Pati’s strong commitment in providing a firm support to his coalition government by taking up the responsibility to work collaboratively in serving the nation.

“I welcome Minister Paita and Vice Minister Loifa as both will be assisting the Prime Minister in matters that I will take charge,” PM Marape said.

“Tomorrow when we convene cabinet, we will confirm specific projects that will be allocated to them,” he added.

“They re-joined parliament in November (2024) and have not hesitant in holding back their numbers. They deployed their numbers to this government,” PM said.

PM Marape is confident that the two ministers will perform their duties diligently to the expectations as they are not strange to serving in those various positions in the government.

“I offered the two positions vacant to OUR Pati to decide which two leaders become minister and vice minister and earlier today they were able to transmit the information to me,” the Prime Minister added.

“In the next two weeks, I will sit with all ministers and all department heads going through expectations of the country.

“We expect performance from all ministers,” PM said.

“We should keep performance indicators throughout all heads of departments as we expect deliveries of outcome our people expect from this government.”

PM Marape said the central team of government, inclusive of the Planning, Treasury and Finance, will assemble in two to three weeks’ time then make assessment based on outputs and key achievements in the last six years.

He said government would be able to undergo restructure based on key expectations going forward to ensure the country and its people are served with positive outputs.
