A MAJOR funding support needed for Passam aid post in East Sepik to be upgraded to sub-health centre to improve service delivery.

Passam Ave Gracia Major aid post Officer in Charge, Sr Theresa Kaklep said currently the team under her management is not able to improve the facility, nor the staff housing.

“We do not have any available funds to use on this matter. As per my knowledge, I know we may have funds from the revenue the facility makes, and support funding from other parties. However, it is quite a process to go through and it may not be quick enough to cater for our need now,” she said.

Sr Kaklep said the last time the clinic got some funding support from the local government was in 2015. The Wewak District Authority funded the Aid post with a cheque of K10,000.

It is understood the funds have been diverted and not being put to good use with labour ward beyond repair which is still being used by staff.

“If they left the funds to follow the normal procedure for the Catholic Health Services in the province, they would have not implemented the renovation and keep the delivery services going well, as it is today,” Sr Kaklep reiterated.

She also said that at least three staff houses are not in good condition for staff members to live and do their part in saving the lives of the people.
