PNG FM moves to new studio complex

PNG FM Ltd, the parent company of Papua New Guinea’s leading radio stations — Nau FM, Yumi FM, Legend FM — along with the Total Event Company, PNG Haus Bung, and Magic Factory, has announced the successful relocation to its new premises at Section 225, Lot 9, Hohola.

Construction of the new studio and office complex began in May 2023.

PNG FM Chair, Peter Aitsi said:  “This has been a long-time dream, and we are thrilled to open just in time for our 30th Anniversary in Papua New Guinea on November 14th.

“Timing is critical in the PNG market, and we believe we’ve taken full advantage of favorable market conditions.

“We purchased the land during the Covid-19 crisis and were able to construct at a time when the PNG market is beginning to pick up.”

The new studio complex features the latest in broadcast equipment, positioning PNG FM to fully leverage a multimedia future with products available both on air and online.

PNG FM General Manager, Rosemarie Botong: “Our team is very excited about the new opportunities ahead of us.

“We are looking forward to growing our radio stations—Nau FM, Yumi FM, and Legend FM—and our news portal, PNG Haus Bung.

Mr Aitsi added that: “To complete a project like this on time and on budget without any significant hiccups is a tribute to the PNG FM team supported by our contractors and advisors.

“Special thanks to our contractors China Railway Construction Co. Ltd and our architect Tropical Projects but the real heroes have been the PNG FM team.”

The total cost of construction was K10 million, with the land purchased in 2021 for K5 million.

The complex will be officially opened on November 14th as part of PNG FM’s 30th birthday celebrations.
