PNG UPDATE Targets Growth and Development

THE PNG Update 2024 is set to take place from the 21st (today) to 22nd of August at the University of Papua New Guinea (UPNG) in Port Moresby.

Centered on the theme “Securing a Stable Environment for Growth and Development”, the seminar will feature presentations aimed at generating ideas and discussions that serve as catalysts for change and development in the country.

Speaking at a media briefing, Acting Executive Dean of the School of Business and Public Policy, Dr. Lawrence Sause, explained that the two-day event will focus on two key topics: the economy and geopolitics with security.

“There is a fundamental reason why academic institutions and universities host conferences like this,” Dr. Sause stated.
“Societies progress through thoughts and ideas, and events like this are crucial in fostering that progress.”

He added that the ideas presented at the conference are derived from research conducted by proud Papua New Guineans.
He welcomed the government and the public to attend, emphasizing the value of hearing about the research conducted by the nation’s people.

The conference will showcase the hard work and research of UPNG and other individuals committed to helping develop policies and providing evidence to support their work.

“It’s an opportunity for everyone to learn some of the best ideas while attending this conference,” Dr. Sause revealed.

The event is jointly organized by the School of Business and Public Policy at UPNG and the Development Policy Centre at the Crawford School of Public Policy, Australian National University.
