ACTING Lae Metropolitan Commander, Senior Inspector James Luan said, approval for police escorts and security services in Lae will now be strictly managed by the office of the Lae Metropolitan Commander to ensure the integrity of the Royal Papua New Guinea Constabulary (RPNGC) is safe guarded at any cost.
He emphasized that all requests for police security or escort services must be routed through his office. Mr. Luan emphasized that no other officers, including Police Station Commanders (PSCs), Officer In Charges (OICs), or Unit Commanders, are authorized to approve these requests.
“I must be informed through a formal letter of request and not through verbal communication.”
“I am the only authorized person to either approve or disapprove the request,” said Senior Inspector Luan.
The guidelines and procedures have been put in place to ensure that police services are delivered professionally and consistently. Luan also warned that any PSCs, OICs, or Unit Commanders who bypass these procedures would be held accountable for their actions.
He clarified that these measures are designed to protect and maintain the professional image of the RPNGC, ensuring that all services provided meet the required standards.
