MINISTER for Administrative services and minister assisting Prime Minister on constitutional matters Hon. Richard Masere refuted comments label against him and his office of conducting a failed census.
During his statement at the parliament, Masere said census is a huge task and it takes more time to cover the entire communities through out the country.
Minister Masere said census roll in the communities were a shared leadership with provincial Administration.
“We were delegating power from Waigani and given to provincial Administration,” he said.
He also mentioned that, although government committed funding towards the census exercise, Provincial Government were also asked to commit a budget to assist in their respective community.
He acknowledged the pressing issues and challenges he received and he is dealing with them by negotiating with Finance department to address allowances and other areas as well.
“We expecting both, leaders at the national and Provincial level provide leadership so we ensure we complete this census,” Masere added.
“As we are progressing through this, we are very close confident we will complete this event and provide a full detail to this parliament as well as explain the procurement of the tablets”.
