A NEW boat was launched today at the Basilisk Naval Base in Port Moresby to support the NID rollout program in the coastal areas of the city, including Central and Gulf Provinces.
The launch of MV Basil was officiated by the Member for Bulolo, Hon. Sam Basil Jnr, and was attended by the Minister for Administrative Services, Hon. Richard Masere, along with Registrar General Noel Mobiha and staff from the NID office.
The boat, named in honor of the late Sam Basil, recognizes the legacy of work he initiated during his term as a minister. It was fitting that his son, the current MP for Bulolo, presided over the ceremony.
Minister Masere acknowledged the ongoing challenges faced by the NID office in serving clients promptly.
Masere also acknowledged the concerns of clients who are seeking quick processing of their NID applications.
“Under my leadership, we are on the path to resolving some of these longstanding issues,” Minister Masere stated.
“We are now merging the NID and PNG Civil Registry to create a single entity that will deliver the outcomes our people deserve.”
The NID office is working to reach every community, particularly in coastal areas, through collaborative efforts.
“We have many people waiting for their NIDs, and we apologize for the delays in processing their information,” Minister Masere added.
