Parliament pays respect to late Dumarinu

THE National Parliament pays final respect to the late Member of the Regional Bougainville, Hon. Simon Dumarinu, when parliament commences its September Sitting on Tuesday, September 3rd 2024.

Prime Minister James Marape was the first speaker to reflect on the life of late Dumarinu and his unwavering services to the Independent State of Papua New Guinea and greater Bougainville region.

Mr Marape said late Damarinu was a man who always expressed love to his people of Bougainville and Papua New Guinea.

The Prime Minister placed on record the parliament’s appreciation of late Dumarinu’s empowerment and service to both PNG and Bougainville governments.

He said late Dumarinu was a man who could not stop identifying lasting solution to the Bougainville issues that keep hanging in the parliament.

PM said while troubling with his medical condition, the late Member of Regional Bougainville kept serving and continue to deliver for his people.

Marape added that the legacy of late Dumarinu’s outstanding service to the country will live on and will never be forgotten easily.

“Today we mourn the loss of a true son of God, who dedicated his life for others and the people of Papua New Guinea,” PM said.

“On behalf of the Pangu Pati and the Members of Parliament, supporters throughout our length and breath of the country including Bougainville, I thank you for your honourable service to our coalition government.

“May your soul rest in peace,” PM concluded.
