By EMMA DULAU

DURING the 14th Missioning Ceremony of Divine Word University, students were reminded to maintain the values they were taught, to be brave, consistent, and to be proud of how far they’ve come.

The annual ceremony is a tradition held purposely for senior students of the university, as a farewell before they graduate from the institute.

CEO for Digicel Foundation and Executive Director for Voice Inc, Serena Sasingian, who was the keynote speaker encouraged the students to work hard and shared experiences of her own as a law graduate of the University of Papua New Guinea.

Ms Sasingian assured the students that it was okay to make mistakes in life, however, it also took great sacrifice to excel in a career.

She said: “I had to make some changes and because of these changes, I lost about 95% of my friends”.

“You have to put yourself in situations where you are uncomfortable, because you can’t grow in places where you’re comfortable.”

Meanwhile, president of the university Professor Fr Philip Gibbs, stated that there had been a lot of challenges faced by the school over the years which included the COVID-19 and the recent earthquake in Madang that caused over K4million worth of damages to the school’s internet and library.

He also congratulated the students on being commissioned to serve the country.
