Minister for Foreign Affairs and Member for Moresby South, Justin Tkatchenko yesterday honored more than 180 teachers and representatives from various educational institutions for their exceptional service to education and youth development in Moresby South.

The recognition ceremony, held at Don Bosco Technical Secondary School, celebrated the tireless efforts of educators and institutions committed to empowering young people through education and training.

Among the recipients was International Business and Technical College (formerly IT Job Training Centre), which received a Medal of Recognition for Services in Education.

Minister Tkatchenko commended the dedication of teachers and training providers, emphasizing that education remains the foundation of his vision for a stronger and more self-reliant Moresby South.

“Education is the key to transforming lives and communities,” Minister Tkatchenko said.

“Our young people deserve every opportunity to learn, to grow, and to contribute meaningfully to our nation. I thank all institutions and teachers who continue to partner with us in shaping the future of Moresby South.”

Representing all the institutions, Director of IBT College Sunny Yunyang Sun expressed gratitude to Minister Tkatchenko for his unwavering support and leadership in championing education and youth programs.

“We sincerely thank Hon Tkatchenko for his leadership and commitment to the people of Moresby South,” Mr Sun said.

“Through his sponsorship and encouragement, institutions like IBT College are able to reach and empower many young people with the skills they need to succeed.”

Mr Sun further highlighted that IBT College recently completed a major training program for Moresby South youth, which has already helped many participants secure employment across Port Moresby.

The initiative focused on mindset transformation, work readiness, and vocational skill development, reflecting the college’s commitment to practical outcomes for local communities.

Mr Sun said the recognition of IBT College was a testament to the partnership between government, educators, and the private sector in advancing education and employment opportunities in Papua New Guinea.
