THE Southern Highlands Provincial Administration (SHPA) has officially welcomed Mr. Jerry James as the newly appointed Deputy Provincial Administrator overseeing the Economic and Social Services (ESS) Sector. His appointment marks a significant step toward strengthening governance and service delivery in the province.
Mr. James, who has formally accepted his role in the public service, expressed his commitment to working under the leadership of Hon. Governor William Powi and Acting Provincial Administrator David Kelma. He aims to drive economic growth, enhance social services, and ensure efficient implementation of government policies and programs across the province.
In his new role, Mr. James will focus on aligning SHPG’s priorities under the ESS Sector with key stakeholders, including central government agencies, responsible State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs), project development partners, and international agencies. This strategic coordination is expected to improve service delivery and ensure a more structured approach to development initiatives.
He has also emphasized the importance of work ethics and attendance, ensuring that divisional advisors and line managers uphold accountability in their respective sectors. Furthermore, Mr. James is committed to implementing national policies at the subnational level, ensuring they are effectively realized within the province.
“Public service must be delivered with dignity, honesty, and accountability. These principles define the true meaning of being a public servant,” said Mr. James. “Service to the people must always be our number one priority.”
He further highlighted the need to foster a collaborative and respectful working environment within the provincial administration. Establishing strong relationships with government colleagues and the general public will be key to improving governance and ensuring that provincial services reach communities effectively.
The Economic and Social Services Sector remains one of the largest and most critical divisions within the province. It serves as the focal point for coordinating and implementing provincial and national government policies, projects, and priorities. Under Mr. James’ leadership, the sector is expected to play a vital role in advancing economic opportunities, strengthening social services, and improving the overall well-being of the people of Southern Highlands Province.
