During a presentation at Ela Motors in Port Moresby, Governor Juffa stressed the critical importance of education in the lives of the province’s citizens. “This substantial support aims to enhance the delivery of education across the province. Education is our government’s top priority,” he stated.

Governor Juffa explained that these investments will equip Northern Province’s Education Officers with the necessary tools to effectively provide services. The vehicles have been allocated to various sections within the education division, including Operations, Administration, Materials, and Inspections.

“Although Inspections is a national function, we are still providing a vehicle to support their activities,” Juffa noted.

In alignment with his government’s plans to modernize the transport fleet, all vehicles are fitted with GPS tracking systems by Tactical Solutions International (TSI). The vehicles have no window tints, are clearly labeled, and will have government plates replacing private ones upon arrival in Popondetta.

The Governor further emphasized that these vehicles will be strictly monitored to ensure they serve their intended purpose under stringent guidelines.

Governor Juffa also outlined his government’s plans to establish a teacher’s college at the existing Newton College in Jonita, in partnership with the Anglican Church. Additionally, the Northern Provincial Government has established a partnership with the University of Natural Resources and Environment to increase the availability of spaces, with a strategy to create a minimum of 150 new spaces annually.

“This initiative will enhance the accessibility and inclusivity of education within the province. The Northern Provincial Government will continue to support this effort under the Tertiary Scholarship Scheme,” Juffa added.
