The MD was again taken to Boroko Police Station on Thursday.

He was taken in by Police from Tahira Bay for questioning.

The workers said they were not told by the MD to come to the police station but it was their own will to stand behind him.

The staff claimed that he is one of the best ever performing MD to have assumed the role and they look up to him.

The management and staff were also followed by about 21 Airport Managers throughout the country who travelled into Port Moresby to have their one-week workshop at Loloata Island outside of Port Moresby, when Kiponge was arrested while on his way to Loloata to meet with them.

Saluki Ruvimou the Executive Manager of NAC in the Strategic Management said the workers were not happy in the manner in which Kiponge was arrested. His arrest disrupted their workshop.

Ruvimou added that some of the workers were assaulted by police and their cameras taken but later retrieved their phones.

General Manager in the NAC Commercial Division Wally Eki, shared similar sediment and said the MD is by far one of the best he has seen since serving in the last 27 years from the Department of Civil Aviation (DCA) days to the current NAC stages.

Eki said that welfare is one of the main concerns that the workers have seen addressed since Kiponge became the MD.

“Since our MD came onboard, we have seen a lot of changes and we see a brighter tomorrow   and that is what we are looking forward to all these times,” Eki said.

Kiponge was arrested and later refused bail but through his lawyer Dan Kakaraya of the Warner Shand Lawyers obtained a K2,000 court bail at the Waigani District Court that allowed his release.
