AS Papua New Guinea approaches its 50th anniversary of independence, Our Pati declares its unwavering support for the Pangu-led Government and Prime Minister Hon. James Marape ahead of the impending Vote of No Confidence.

“This is no time for political instability —it is a time for nation-building at a challenging time in our nation’s history,” said Our Parti Leader, and Mining and Special Projects Minister, the Hon. Rainbo Paita.

“PNG’s journey has been hard-fought, but our work is far from done. Economic independence, service delivery, and infrastructure demand stable leadership—not divisive maneuvers that derail progress.”

Why Stability Matters, with the Party’s own experiences it has seen that Political instability does cost PNG dearly especially in times when the nation needs unity in all over diversity, eroded investor confidence, delayed major projects, and disrupted governance. Countries like Singapore, Rwanda, and Fiji have thrived by prioritizing stable leadership and policy consistency. PNG must do the same.

“Our Pati refuses to enable this cycle. We stand with this government committed to reform—and we will hold it accountable to deliver.”

Post-Vote Priorities: A Call for Action.
Our Pati urges the Prime Minister to seize this moment for transformative change, including:

  • Strengthening institutions to ensure accountability and service delivery.
  • Reforming the public service* to replace inefficiency with results.
  • Revising resource laws* to maximize benefits for PNG citizens.
  • Boosting revenue through compliance, SME growth, and fair tax enforcement.

Commending Progress, Demanding More.
The party applauds the government’s existing reform agenda, such as:

  • Mandatory downstream processing of raw resources to create jobs.
  • Block grants to provinces to empower local development.
  • Decentralization** to improve grassroots governance.
  • Law and order investments*, including police and infrastructure upgrades.

Our Pati also calls for “immediate electoral reforms” including:

  • Biometric voting systems to end ghost names and fraud.
  • International observer partnerships to ensure transparency.
  • Early preparations for a free, fair 2027 election.

Unity for a Stronger PNG.
“Our choice is clear, unity over division, stability over chaos, leadership over opportunism, the statement concluded.

“Our Pati remains committed to a prosperous, independent PNG—and we will keep working within government to turn promises into progress.”
