THE Pasca Oil Project is expected to unlock the immense potential of Papuan Gulf as a gateway to harness the oil and gas of an offshore project of 90-meter ocean depth in Gulf province.
Aside from the other significant projects, this project will develop the Papuan Gulf and the nation as a whole.
Prime Minister James Marape said: “The cabinet and treasurer’s watch have sat yesterday (Wednesday) and has enveloped K60 million in Business Development Grant for the Gulf Province”.
“That money must be halved and fix Kikori and Kerema to receive the project and to settle in around Gulf province so that it grows”.
PM Marape added that of the 70% of State take of the project, 40% benefits will be going to Gulf province.
Gulf Governor Chris Haiveta said: “The whole of 15 local level governments in the Gulf province and a total of over 300 wards will benefit from this project when it comes to fruition”.
Haiveta expressed his gratitude to Twinza for securing the resources and also to the Prime Minister to commit the government to ensure that resources are available to ensure the agreement is equal.
MRDC Managing Director, Mr. Augustine Mano said: “All our landowners are risk-takers in this big project here and they own 50% of the entities in the Hevehe Company, so it’s a milestone achievement”.
The Pasca Project is a step forward in developing the Gulf Province and a journey towards building a brighter future for Papua New Guinea.
