PHILIPPINES National Women’s football team have trashed PNG side 5-1 in their first international friendly in Australia.

PNG National Women’s football team took on the Philippines side on Sunday evening in their first of two friendly matches scheduled to take place in Sydney camp to prepare for the upcoming Women’s FIFA World Cup Qualifiers.

The result is not that pleasing with PNG trailing 2-0 into half time. Philippines side who has already booked their World Cup spot scored the match opener by Carleigh Frilles in the 29th minute of the first half followed by their second goal at 38 minutes by Tahnai. The goals were scored just nine minutes apart before the half time.

Returning in the second half the Philippines proved to be too good for the PNG side with more ball possession on PNG’s half.

The effort was rewarded by a Goal from Eva Mandurang in the 56 minutes. PNG, who is the current Oceania Women’s football champions responded with a goal by Calista Maneo. However, the Oceania queen could not find the finish in several attempt to get past the Philippines back four.

Philippines further extended their lead in the sixtieth minute when Frilles sneak the ball past Betty Sam between the sticks to reach the back of the net followed by Meryll Serranno’s goal at the 77minute. PNG went down 5-1 at the fulltime.

The second friendly is set for December 15, 2022 in Sydney before the PNG side return to the country for Christmas break.
