Member for Pomio- Hon. Elias Kapavore
I am indebted to serve my constituency. Pomio district was left in oblivion before my entry to Parliament in the 2015 by-election.
The new Pomio Story has unfolded with interventions across the 7 LLGs covering over 11,000km2. There’s more to be done though, but guided by our district plan and with committed board, we are making tangible progress.
District Public Servants including those at the LLG levels perform according to their KPIs cascaded from the district plan that is aligned to the Provincial and MTDP IV. Despite their geographic locations, our district Public Servants are among the most committed.
Our key focus areas are on good governance, basic accessibility, socio-economic empowerment and integral human development.
Our District acquittals are up to date.
Constructions of 6 bridges with spans ranging from 35m to 95m over the past 5 years, more than 150Km of roads connecting many of our rural communities, and purchase of 2 x shipping vessels to support our people travel with their SMEs are among our humble achievements.
Constructions of 40m Bailey (Malop River) a 240m Steel redecking (Tolo) and 200m Bailey (Melkoi) are set to kick in from September 2024. Designs are completed and going through tender and awards processes.
We have the Jacquinot Bay Airstrip considered for upgrade under CADIP 2 program and the ongoing Level 4 District Hospital under construction.
Considering the amount of progress and with the Government support, my LLG Presidents have requested on behalf of the council ward members for me to remain with the Pangu Pati and the Marape-Rosso Government.
I confirmed my position to remain with Pangu Pati, hence returned to Government.
