THE recent suspension of the PRK Mendi Muruks’ head coach, Mr Andiki Andrew, has been clarified by the franchise board yesterday (July 3).
PRK Mendi Muruks franchise Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Mr Kuns Boli, said the head coach was told to step down due to disciplinary reasons.
He clarified that the suspension commenced in round 10 of the Digicel ExxonMobil Cup and was extended for four rounds until round 14.
“The suspension came from the board after he was cited for disciplinary issues, however, the board will make its final decision whether to reinstate him in round 14,” Mr Boli said.
He said the team is committed to maintaining high standards of discipline and professionalism and any coaching staff, management or player that does not adhere to its practice will face consequences.
“As a professional team, we take these matters very seriously and we are dedicated to fostering a culture of discipline and respect,” Mr Boli said.
“Discipline is the number one priority for the PRK Mendi Muruks and we will not tolerate one single ill-discipline behavior.”
The CEO said assistant coach Roderick Puname has assumed the responsibilities of head coach following Mr Andrew’s suspension.
Mr Boli said Puname will be in acting on the head coach role until the board sits before round 14 to deliberate on their decision.
Meanwhile, the Southern Highlands Provincial flagship team who are sitting on the fourth place of the Digicel ExxonMobil Cup ladder, will face the Goroka Lahanis this weekend at the National Sport Institute Oval in Goroka.
