Foreign Affairs Minister Justin Tkatchenko has farewelled US Ambassador to PNG, Ann Marie Yastishock, who is among other diplomats being recalled by the Trump Administration.
Mr Tkatchenko expressed Papua New Guinea’s deep appreciation for Ms Yastishock’s work in strengthening US-PNG relations during her two-year term.
He said her work showed true diplomatic leadership in US-PNG relations at the highest level, which enabled both countries to achieve much together in the areas of defense, security, humanitarian, women, and much more.
“You have shown your colors with our relationship at the highest level, and we have done a lot together.
“There is a lot more yet to be achieved, from the strong foundation that we’ve set over your term in office, but also grateful that you have left a mark we can only build stronger from.
“Papua New Guinea wishes you well in your life and work for the betterment of humanity, Excellency,” Minister Tkatchenko said.
