PNG’s Parul University campus commences registration

By FRANCIS RODNEY PULU

PARUL University of India opens its campus in Port Moresby and offering 50 % school fee discount to PNG and Autonomous Region of Bougainville students.

As one of the top 50 universities in India, this campus is now assisting the students by facilitating registrations to undergo studies in India.

The campus is located within the Asia Pacific Institute of Applied and Technical Studies at Hohola in Port Moresby.

Currently, the campus has commenced registration and enrollment for students who wish to take up courses in India.

Sunday Bulletin had the opportunity to speak to its newly appointed PNG and AROB Admission Officer, Dominic Yambi who had the roundup of the special and unique qualities of this global and internationally accredited university.

Yambi said currently they are doing the registrations and about 35 students have enrolled so far.

He said out of the 35, about 20 are confirmed and the final list of students will be made known soon before they fly over to India either in Mary or April.

“So, the process that we are doing now is that we are not charging any consultation fees and so forth. And so far, we have issued more than 100 applications for students throughout PNG,” he said.

Yambi said currently they are issuing out the application forms through WhatsApp and email or through the office.

He said this is to allow students to pick up the application forms and attach their grade 10 or grade 12 certificates for degree, masters and PHD programs together with their CVs and references for further screening and recommendation.

“And if the university issues an offer letter, then the students are required to pay the registration fee of $100 (K350) as stated in the offer letter and send straight into the university account. Then we register them or you can send your receipt direct to Parul University account and they sent it over so we do the registration here.

So straight after the registration, we encourage students to go ahead and pay the tuition fees which some have already paid so far,” he said.

Yambi added that the university can also assist students with supporting letters to seek for sponsorship.

He said that those who will be graduating from this international accredited university are able to find employment anywhere in the world and as such it is a golden opportunity for grade 12 students who missed out on this year’s government selection.

“Some of the students may have scored good marks like A’s and B’s but missed out on selections. So, we are offering good opportunity for them to take up the specialist courses at their wish,” he said.

Yambi further said that one of the unique features of the university is that it offers some of the specialist courses that are not offered in the universities in the country.

“Specialist engineering courses like petroleum, chemical engineering and others such as Information Technology, medical, management, architecture and planning.

In Law, we are offering courses like economic law and business law and once students graduate in economic law, they can become experts or advisors in the commerce and industry or other relevant private and government organisations,” he said.

Yambi further said that one of the other features this university has is the cost of meals that is covered once tuition fees are paid depending on each course.

“If your tuition fee is K10,000 or K9,000, that includes full breakfast, lunch and dinner. You will also have full hostel accommodation and your clothes and beddings will also be washed by cleaners.

You will also have full free internet for one full year, including full medical insurance and free international telephone calls that you can make calls to your friends or families,” he said.

Meanwhile, Mr. Yambi appealed to students to make use of this golden opportunity as it not only helps for studies but also helps students to graduate with good marks that will enable them to look for employment anywhere in the world.

He further said that with the PNG campus starting, they have plans to extend out to the Pacific Island countries like Fiji, Solomon Islands, Samoa and others.
