PNGTUC General Secretary Kanau heads Gaming Board

THE General Secretary of the PNG Trade Union Congress (PNGTUC) Clemence Kanau has been appointed Chairman of the PNG Gaming and Control Board.

PNGTUC affiliates made up of workers from a cross section of the public and private sector have applauded the decision made by the government.

The President of the Police Association Mr Lowa Tambua, Bankers and Financial Workers Union General Secretary Vera Raga, and the PNG Nurses Association Frederik Kebai representing 22 union affiliates recently  expressed their thank you to the government .

 “We cannot deny the fact that Clemence was appointed on his own merits. He has the experience as a lawyer and director of the PNGCB board for some years. We congratulate him on his appointment,” the General Secretary of the Banker’s Union Vera Raga said.

Mr Raga said the appointment of Mr Kanau to the chairman position will help bring the issues of workers closer to the government.

The Police Association President Lowa Tambua said the Union affiliates are happy with the appointment.
