DEPUTY Commissioner of Police Administration (DCP), Dr Philip Mitna says the Police Act and the Constabulary Standing Orders (CSO) are the two basic things that help them run the Constabulary.
DCP Mitna said the Constabulary Standing Order was basically the administrative that runs parallel with the Police Act which is legal document.
Dr Mitna made these remarks today when officially opening the five-day workshop on the Police Act Review Consultation and the Constabulary Standing Orders roll-out at Dixies Bungalow at the 17 Mile, Central province, Port Moresby.
DCP Mitna told the participants that their contributions to the review exercise is valued and the contributions from everyone is needed. He wanted those two important documents to be reviewed every five years because how they change the organization in the next five to ten years is how they look at the CSO.
“We have not done the review in the past because we have never been doing the CSO policy Act coming back to the enforcement part.
“Those two critical reviews have not been done and as part of the reforms, they would like to get it out, so everyone plays a critical role in this assessment,” DCP Mitna said, adding that he said they would not go wrong if they follow the CSO and the Polic Act, which basically gives them the legal framework to run the organization.
Dr Mitna said it was the officers’ chance to deeply contribute to how they would like the organization to run in the next five years. He told the members of the Constabulary that their combined experience in the police force is important.
