Police in Central province are ready to go in a ‘man hunt’ in Goilala, Central province, following a killing spree in the Woitape Local Level Government.
But aircraft owners in Port Moresby are afraid to send in their aircrafts with policemen into the area, after a grenade had intentionally killed three people on the remote airstrip on Monday.
A man believed to be a gang leader of 52 man is continuing on a killing spree and has ammunitions, like grenades that killed three who fell on the ground and later were slaughtered to death by knife wielding men at the Fane airstrip this week.
The gang led by its leader nicknamed as ‘Pilot’ had been on a killing spree since last month in the Woitape Valley. According to sources, the gang is roaming around the Woitape LLG, killing any innocent lives they come across.
The executive officer to the office of the MP for Goilala Evelyn Tago when contacted said aircraft owners had refused to fly in their aircraft and pilots, because of the safety reasons from the incident on Monday from a grenade blast.
‘’The aircraft owners are cautioned on the safety of their aircraft and pilots which they are not going to risk flying into Fane,’’ she said.
She said she personally contacted the owners of Helifix and Heliscope, but that is the reason they have given, ‘’so I am not sure what next plan of action is to be taken.’’
She said the MP has given the green light for the policemen to go in after a dialogue with the Police Commissioner.
Acting Central Province Police Commander, Peterson Birigi said his men are ready to go in but are left stranded since Tuesday.
