THE Member for Popondetta Open has announced that K1 million has been allocated to the Department of Police for the purchase of 10 new vehicles to enhance their operational capabilities in Oro province.
Richard Masere made this announcement during the launch of the Binandere Sports Association in Port Moresby last Saturday.
Masere commended the Papua New Guinea Royal Constabulary Southern and Northern Command for their assistance to the leaders and youths in Binandere, who voluntarily surrendered 300-400 guns during the Christmas and New Year period.
“A million kina was deposited with the Department of Police through Minister for police on the one on one support, so we are purchasing 10 new police cars to support the police in what they are doing in the district and the province,” he said
“This is not for you to go and be destructive to them but to be a support pillar to build the young people in the work you do. I want to thank the police force for the work you do on behalf of the Marape-Rosso Government, quite often we do not say thank you but I want to also say that we are working with the minister for police to make sure that the K350 million tax credit scheme are supported,” he said.
He added that one of the areas the district would be looking at was also accommodations and living standards of policemen in Oro.
Masere said he wanted to make sure police in the province are equipped and provided with better accommodation so that they carry out their work properly.
