PRIME Minister James Marape confirmed this afternoon that the Cabinet will be announced on Tuesday, August 23, 2022.
He said the appointment could not be done last week as there were some readjustments that had to be done to the cabinet structure.
“We are making some critical cabinet structure we believe will go towards addressing law and order, achieving our drive for economy base expansions, especially focusing in rural industries like agriculture, livestock, forestry and SME.
“Those readjustments are taking place and that is why I did not rush into making the appointment last week.
“We work to ensure that we set up a structure that will correspond to the elections, our Pangu Party’s commitment to do what we pledged to do for our people, to better PNG, improve our economy, ensure secure and safe law and order environment, get everyone engaged and leave no one behind.
“Those commitments were made to our people and it is the departments, portfolios and ministries that will be driving those sectors.”
Marape also added that upon swearing in, the Ministers will also be given Key Result Areas that they would be expected to achieve.
Meanwhile, Marape met with the Prime Minister’s Department today to go through the reports that were submitted by all state departments and agencies to see what they had done and how they had worked in the last three years.
