EAST Sepik Governor, Hon. Allan Bird had clarified, especially to the supporters of National Alliance (NA) Party that the party was still honoring its agreement with Pangu Party which was to preserve the government that they had been a part of.
This agreement was made prior to the elections.
Bird said this in a press conference while welcoming the re-elected Nuku MP, Hon. Joe Sungi who joined the Pangu Party and its coalition partners’ camp in Wewak, East Sepik yesterday.
“We (NA and Pangu Party) are honouring that agreement still,” he said.
Bird said he was in discussion recently with the NA Party Leader, Hon. Patrick Pruaitch, and Namatanai Open MP, Hon. Water Schnaubelt, and they had confirmed to honor the agreement with Pangu Party.
“The agreement we have with Pangu is still in force, and, therefore, we are working together in putting this government together.
“So, I just wanted to make that clear to the the National Alliance supporters and the people of Papua New Guinea,” he said.
Bird, also on his Facebook page clarified that he had no intention to take the Prime Minister seat.
This was in response to the request of many on social media, especially Facebook, calling on him to raise his hand for the PM seat.
In his post, he said: “I campaigned to be Governor of East Sepik.”
Bird also stated that Sepik had experienced a PNC government and a Pangu government.
“I will support the government that believes in empowering provinces and LLGs.
“I will always make my decisions based on what is good for the people of Sepik.
“What is good for Sepik is also good for PNG,” he said on his Facebook post that was published on his page on Wednesday.
